YouTube has gotten around to fixing some visual bugs with the in-app miniplayer on Android. The redesign was introduced back in October.
If you’re a YouTube Premium subscriber, “Continue watching” will “save your spot so that you can resume watching videos across multiple devices.” If you watched something on the web and then opened the Android app, the thumbnail appears in a miniplayer-esque UI at the bottom-right corner. There’s a “P” and “Continue watching” badge with the play button.
Until recently, that corner UI would always draw the thumbnail underneath the bottom bar, thus making it hard to see what’s being suggested. A small drag would properly align things, but it was an eyesore.

As of version 20.05+, this is no longer a problem on devices we checked in recent days. (However, the corners are sharp and not rounded.)
window.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || [];
adSlotsConfig.push( {
slotID: ‘/1049447/Outbrain’,
slotName: ‘div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-661205’,
sizes: [300, 250],
slotPosition: ‘mid_article’
} );
YouTube has also addressed the bug that squished the replay button in the miniplayer once a video has ended.
In general, some people do not like the new miniplayer compared to the more subtle strip above the bottom bar. That said, others appreciate how the picture-in-picture (PiP) approach actually lets you still watch while browsing the app.
