It’s been a long time coming, but Samsung is reportedly in the process of “finalizing” a pair of smart glasses with a built-in display that would be coming later this year.

ETNews reports that Samsung is working to finalize the features and specifications of a project called “HAEAN” which would be a pair of glasses with a display to show “information or images on the glasses like the lenses” (translated) and also have speakers for audio feedback.

Samsung is said to be focusing on the design of the product to make it “tailored to the human body,” with the report adding that it “cannot have remote controls or buttons,” saying that “cameras and sensors that can recognize movements are also being prepared.” Other smart glasses on the market today such as Meta’s Ray-Bans have a limited number of physical buttons and touch-sensitive surfaces, while glasses from Solos rely fully on touch surfaces. A pair of smart glasses called “Halliday” were announced at CES 2025 with a mix of those two options, as well as a ring that can be worn for better controls. Meanwhile, Samsung is using cameras and sensors on its “Project Moohan” headset, much like Apple Vision Pro, though is also said to be working on controllers.

Samsung teased a pair of smart glasses at its Unpacked event earlier this year.

samsung unpacked 2025 glasses headset teaser

It was previously rumored that Samsung wouldn’t include a display on its first pair of smart glasses, but things have seemingly changed in the time since. That report came before Google demoed Android XR glasses with a display, but did mention that Samsung would be relying on Gemini in some big ways. Last week, Google started rolling out “Astra,” an extension of Gemini live that works with live videos which was first unveiled at Google I/O 2024 roughly a year ago.

This latest report makes no mention of Gemini, but it’s clear that all of the pieces are coming together here.

Samsung has already committed to release “Project Moohan,” its Android XR headset that we’ve seen at multiple events, this year. The report claims that “HAEAN” would also be coming in 2025, hinting that the two could be fully unveiled together and that the glasses would be fully released “within the year” when translated, though @Jukanlosreve says that Samsung has a target of “unveiling” the glasses by the end of the year. In any case, it seems we’ll be getting at least a look at a pair of smart glasses from Samsung – and a pretty advanced pair at that – by the end of 2025.
