Google appears to be working on a heavily revamped Quick Share experience on Android, with a new redesign having just surfaced.
Quick Share is widely available now as “AirDrop for Android,” with Google having built on the experience in recent months with QR code sharing, improvements to the Windows app. and better messaging about what Quick Share can do when users set up a new device.
In a teardown of the latest Google Play Services update, Android Authority has spotted and enabled a redesign for the Quick Share interface which delivers a revamped look and new functionality. This includes two tabs for Quick Share, one being for “Receive” and the other for “Send.”
The “Receive” tab shows how your device is presented to other users and also shows any incoming share requests. The “Send” tab functions as we’re used to seeing in the Quick Share app today, with the tab showing available send targets, but a new “Add Files” option allowing you to manually select a file to be sent.
window.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || [];
adSlotsConfig.push( {
slotID: ‘/1049447/Outbrain’,
slotName: ‘div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-669211’,
sizes: [300, 250],
slotPosition: ‘mid_article’
} );

This suggests that Quick Share could function as a normal app, rather than something we only see when sending a file through the sharing menu.
The settings page including the “Who can share with you” page is also preparing a redesign. Everything looks rather polished, suggesting Google could launch this in the not-too-distant future. Adding to that theory, this same design appeared in a recent One UI 8 leak. But as for when it might arrive, it’s impossible to say.
