Google Photos for Android is adding more granular customization options for the main grid of images and videos.

Previously, tapping the overflow menu in the Photos grid just had “Stack similar photos” and choosing a layout density (Comfortable, Day, or Month).

Hide all photos from other photo and social media apps, or just the clutter

That bottom sheet is now replaced by a full settings page, with the two previous options appearing at the top. New today is “Show content from other apps” with two sub-preferences:

“Customize by app” might show Pixel Studio, Slack, Instagram, Messenger, etc. Granular options for each application (when you tap) include Show all, Hide clutter, and Hide all.

window.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || [];

adSlotsConfig.push( {
slotID: ‘/1049447/Outbrain’,
slotName: ‘div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-660216’,
sizes: [300, 250],
slotPosition: ‘mid_article’
} );

We’re starting to see these new grid customization options with version 7.14 of Google Photos for Android. You’ll see a “New! Keep your Photos view free of clutter from other apps” banner above the Memories carousel once available. Try force closing the app and tap the overflow menu.
