Through social media, Google is teasing another new announcement around Pixel devices for later this week, with an “Imagination Studio” coming.
Google is fresh off of its latest Pixel launch, the Pixel 9a, which was a bit of an odd one as the company hasn’t opened pre-orders due to a “component” issue affecting some devices. But, on the heels of that reveal, Google is teasing another new announcement.
Through its @GoogleJapan Twitter/X account, Google is teasing a new Pixel announcement for March 29. A Pixel logo with devil horns is shown, but there’s not a whole lot of context to work with. That teaser came on March 23, with a further tweet earlier this morning revealing the context – a collaboration with the K-Pop group Babymonster.
In Japan, Google will be running an “Imagination Studio” on March 29 in Shibuya, Japan. The details around what this event will consist of remain unclear, but it has something to do with Pixel devices and the popular girl group. AI will almost certainly play a role. Perhaps Google’s “Imagination Studio” ties into the Pixel Studio app and its newfound support for generating images with people.

It makes sense for Google to run a pop-up event in Japan, as the country has become a key market for Pixel devices. In 2023, Google Pixel sales in the country lept by over 500% on the back of the Pixel 7a being a hit, and Pixel has gone on to effectively replace Sony Xperia devices in Japan, the one region where Sony’s smartphone business saw a reasonable level of success.
