The launch of the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus last year brought a new importance to making Windows apps for Arm-powered PCs, and one notable omission was Google Drive. After launching in beta last year, the Google Drive app for Windows is now widely available for Snapdragon and Arm-powered machines.

In a blog post today, Google says that its Drive app for Windows is now “generally available” for all users with Arm-powered PCs, including those Snapdragon X chipsets. This means that the latest Microsoft Surface laptops and machines from several other brands now support the Google Drive app for Windows natively.

Google says:

Last year, we introduced a new beta that supports running Google Drive on Arm-compatible Windows PCs, and today we’re excited to announce this is now generally available.

Compiled for ARM64, this release enables users to easily sync and store files online from Windows PCs powered by Snapdragon processors.

This native port of Drive for Windows allow users to access their Google Drive account through the Windows File Explorer app, making those folders and files feel more native to the machine, and making it much easier to both pull files from Drive and upload them as well.

Google also recently updated its Quick Share app for Windows with Arm support, though it’s not a native app.
