As promised at MWC earlier this month, Google’s rollout of Project Astra-powered camera and screen sharing capabilities to Gemini Live is now underway.
There’s one report so far of an Android user activating the Gemini overlay and seeing a new “Share screen with Live” button above the existing “Ask about screen” (screenshot) suggestion chip and Ask Gemini field. You share your entire screen (with single app sharing unavailable).
This user also has access to the new real-time camera capabilities that let you interact with the world. That is accessed by opening the full Gemini Live interface and starting a video stream. There should be a button in the bottom-right corner to switch to your front-facing camera.
It makes sense that Google is slowly rolling this out and ramping up availability. This is not yet live on the devices we checked today.

slotPosition: ‘mid_article’
} );

Gemini Live makes use of a new phone call-style notification and a more compact fullscreen interface, though these are not yet widely rolled out.
Today’s report comes from a Xiaomi phone and Google One subscriber. Alongside demos at the start of March, Google just said Astra would be available to Gemini Advanced subscribers (AI Premium starts at $19.99 per month) and Android (version not specified) devices in general.
However, in January, Google did say that Pixel (and Galaxy S25 series) owners will be “among the first to get Project Astra capabilities like screen sharing and live video streaming.” There does not appear to be any technical reason to gate Astra to specific devices.
Similarly, it should also work on the iPhone, but Google has yet to talk about expanded support. That said, Talk Live with for photos, files, and YouTube videos is not yet available on iOS.
