The Google Home app is finally adding the ability to double-tap to quick seek through camera history. This is currently part of the Public Preview program.

At the moment, double-tap in Google Home’s camera history view just zoomed in on the video, with the gesture eventually zooming you out. You had to long-press and slide the scrubber to move through a clip.

Google is now adding a 10-second quick seek to “navigate your camera history faster.” This is more granular and matches the behavior of every other video player.

You’ll presumably still be able to zoom by pinching in/out.

window.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || [];

adSlotsConfig.push( {
slotID: ‘/1049447/Outbrain’,
slotName: ‘div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-662266’,
sizes: [300, 250],
slotPosition: ‘mid_article’
} );

Camera history quick seek is first coming to the Public Preview program, though it’s not yet appearing on Android and iOS devices/accounts we checked this afternoon. This is a very straightforward capability and will make for a nice quality-of-life improvement.
